For decades terrorists have been attacking Israel. The violence has pretty much been relentless and barely garners much beyond half hearted condemnation by the vaunted international community. And on the off chance that there is even recognition of the violence the Israeli’s deal with such recognition usually also contains condemnation of Israel and demands “restraint” in defending themselves.
But golly gee wilikers! When Israel has had enough and goes on an all out butt whooping rampage against the terrorists and those that support them, the United Nations under the ever decisive leadership of Kofi Annan leaps into action like Superman! Well, at least we know what it takes to get the vaunted “international community” off their butts. Who cares when Israel is under attack right? But if terrorist thugs are threatened with annihilation they cannot wait to jump in and save those poor soles. Read the rest of this entry »

“Recommendation Dangerous for Global Security,
Counter-terrorism, and Human Rights Efforts”
Washington, D.C. – United Nations envoy, former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, today released his proposal for the future of Kosovo. The proposal, as one anonymous Western diplomat stated, "amounts to ‘independence, subject to international supervision.’" The major points of the plan include:
• No reference to Serbian sovereignty or independence for Kosovo;
• Blocking Kosovo from joining Albania, or having its Serb areas split off and join Serbia;
• Giving Kosovo right to use national symbols including flag and anthem;
• Giving Kosovo right to join international organizations such as UN and IMF;
• Creating international envoy mandated by UN and EU with power to intervene in government;
• Retaining NATO and EU forces in military and policing roles;
• Protecting non-Albanian minority with guaranteed roles in government, police and civil service;
• Protecting Serbian Orthodox Church sites and Serbian language.

The UN's spineless leader, Kofi Annan, has all of the sudden taken a soft stance on the Iranian nuclear issue and is back peddling in Ahmadinejad's court.
Kofi Annan, sporting his pacifist/humanist goggles, declared from Tehran Sunday that the Iranian nuclear crisis could be easily solved in a diplomatic manner if the West would just show a little patience.
The lack of Western patience, not Iranian defiance, is the problem. Right. How in the world is sitting around twiddling our thumbs going to suddenly cause the Iranians to realize they don’t want nuclear weapons? (Zionist.com)
It is very obvious who side the UN is on. It is certainly not the side of western freedom. The UN will not even stand up to the interests of the Western world.

The Hezbollah terrorists in their recent aggression with Israel received from many sources, the real-time intelligence on the location of the IDF and choosing targets for their rocket attacks. They had cable news and the internet for their sources. And one of the main sources was the UN's UNIFIL contingent stationed in southern Lebanon.
UNIFIL–the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a nearly 2,000-man blue-helmet contingent that has been present on the Lebanon-Israel border since 1978–is officially neutral. Yet, throughout the recent war, it posted on its website for all to see precise information about the movements of Israeli Defense Forces soldiers and the nature of their weaponry and matériel, even specifying the placement of IDF safety structures within hours of their construction. New information was sometimes only 30 minutes old when it was posted, and never more than 24 hours old.
Meanwhile, UNIFIL posted not a single item of specific intelligence regarding Hezbollah forces. Statements on the order of Hezbollah "fired rockets in large numbers from various locations" and Hezbollah's rockets "were fired in significantly larger numbers from various locations" are as precise as its coverage of the other side ever got.
. . .a review of every single UNIFIL web posting during the war shows that, while UNIFIL was daily revealing the towns where Israeli soldiers were located, the positions from which they were firing, and when and how they had entered Lebanese territory, it never described Hezbollah movements or locations with any specificity whatsoever. (The Weekly Standard)
I certainly would not want the UN or any of is sub-organizations in the United States. How many of its foreign members with diplomatic immunity are actually spying for our enemies?

The View from 1776
The only substance to the UN is the building on the East River that houses it. Apart from that distinctive physical presence, it’s a dangerous charade that distorts the reality of foreign affairs and invites suicidal policies.
The currently unfolding fiasco of UN “peacekeeping” in Lebanon is just one more piece of empirical evidence that the UN is worse than useless. Will liberals like John Kerry and Teddy Kennedy ever recognize that clinging to the myth of world order through the UN is like jumping off the Empire State Building using a kleenex as a parachute?
The driving force behind Presidents, past, present, and future, going through the motions with the UN is uninformed public opinion, manipulated by the liberal media and politicians. No one who actually examines the 85-year history of this socialist mythology of world government, first in the League of Nations, now in the UN, can point to any evidence that it works. It’s just a way for the public to stick its head under the covers and hope that the goblins go away.
Nonetheless, impelled by uninformed domestic and world opinion, the United States and Israel have been ensnared in an untenable situation. Relying upon France’s UN promises to lead an international army to disarm Hezbollah, we and Israel agreed to a cease-fire.
As soon as the UN deal was signed, France backed out, and no one else is prepared to take its place. Hezbollah not only is keeping all its weaponry, but is already resupplying its arms and ammunition from Iran via Syria. With the charade of a UN “peace,” all Israeli efforts to enforce the UN-mandated embargo on arms shipments to Hezbollah are being branded by the UN and the world media as unacceptable aggression.

It appears that the UN Resolution 12710 calling for cease fire in Lebanon gives the terrorists, Hezbollah, and their allies an unfair advantage. The cards are definitely stacked against Israel.
From the Jerusalem Post:
While the resolution was not passed under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter and so does not have the authority of law, in practice it makes it all but impossible for Israel to defend itself against Hezbollah aggression without being exposed to international condemnation on an unprecedented scale.
This is the case first of all because the resolution places responsibility for determining compliance in the hands of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Annan has distinguished himself as a man capable only of condemning Israel for its acts of self-defense while ignoring the fact that in attacking Israel, its enemies are guilty of war crimes. By empowering Annan to evaluate compliance, the resolution all but ensures that Hezbollah will not be forced to disarm and that Israel will be forced to give up the right to defend itself.
The resolution makes absolutely no mention of either Syria or Iran, without whose support Hezbollah could neither exist nor wage an illegal war against Israel. In so ignoring Sibilla's sponsors, it ignores the regional aspect of the current war and sends the message to these two states that they may continue to equip terrorist armies in Lebanon, the Palestinian Authority and Iraq with the latest weaponry without paying a price for their aggression.

The UN brokered cease fire between Israel and Lebanon will only help the Hezbollah terrorists. It will allow them to rearm their depleted supplies of rockets and arms.
Although it is being offered up as a “solution” to the conflict begun by terrorist Hezbollah, UN Resolution 1701 provides the same UNIFIL presence that has, already, done nothing to stop Hezbollah in Lebanon’s arms’ build-up over the last 26 years—and most specifically not the last 6 of them. In fact, at least one UNIFIL complex flag flew side-by-side with that of the terrorist Hezbollah flag. With that in mind, can the United Nations really provide an unbiased solution to the current Hezbollah-Israeli war—when at least one UN division announced its “solidarity” with the terrorist organization? Of course not.
Both the UN’s secretary general and his second in command have made patently anti-Israel comments. But, they have said nothing degrading against the identified terrorist organization Hezbollah—the entity responsible for the conflict. UN Sec. Gen. Kofi Annan said that Israel’s actions (in defending itself) were “murder” and his deputy Mark Malloch Brown said that, in his opinion, Hezbollah is not a terrorist organization. These statements were made by the top UN brass, despite the fact that Hezbollah was the primary player in the 1979-1981 Iranian hostage crisis, the 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Lebanon, the 1983 bombing of US Marine barracks in Beirut, the 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Kuwait, the 1984 kidnapping of CIA Station Chief William Buckley, the hijackings of Kuwait Airways Flight 221 and TWA Flight 847 and on and on—and on. But, Brown doesn’t consider Hezbollah to be a terrorist organization? One has to wonder what more terrorist activities it would take to be considered “terrorist” by the United Nations. On the flip side, this “august” body already has named Israel as one—for protecting its own sovereign country. (http://www.theconservativevoice.com)

Kofi Annan Calls Israeli Defense in Gaza “Murder” yet he is blind to the devastating rockets fired into heavy population centers in Israel by the Hezbollah from Lebanon that carry anti-personal warheads.
The Tampa Bay Primer has a great power point presentation on the damage done by the Hezbollah rockets. Most news services show the rocket damage from a distance. It looks like any other damage caused by high explosive rockets. But The Tampa Bay Primer shows the same pictures, but a a very close range. The damage caused by the anti-personal pellets is clearly seen.
Now Kofi Annan, who are the real murders?

If Group A attacks Group B's population centers with anti-personal rockets, and Group B defends itself against the attacks with an offensive against Group B. And they are only targeting the offenders and the civilian population.
Who is committing murder?
This scenario is being played out between the Israeli Army and Hezbollah terrorists using civilians as shields for their rocket attacks into Israel. And according to , Israel is the murderer.
United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan issued a stern warning that the Israeli military action against terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon and northern Israel should not divert attention away from military action in Gaza.
His spokesman said, "The murder of civilians in Gaza was utterly unjustifiable."
Why isn't Kofi Annan insisting that Hezbollah stop its attacks against the civilians in Israel? Why is the UN putting all the blame on Israel?

In 1945, after World War II, after the Holocaust, at a moment of extreme moral quality, the
U.N. was founded. The alliance, based on shared principles, grew out of a military alliance with the aim to combat aggressors and defend human rights. At that moment, Democratic States had a considerable majority.
At the moment however, dictatorships and third world countries have a large majority in the Council and the Western Democracies are constantly are voted down. Consequently, many resolutions are undermining the democratic principles and the living up to the priniciples of human rights. Furthermore, for the sake of impartiality, the U.N. makes never distiction between aggressor and defender and moral quality is not longer taken into consideration. Fact is however, that even since its foundation, the U.N. failed. Below you can find exaples where the U.N. failed in its duties.
- In 1948, the Arab armies invaded the new State of Israel. This act of violence by the Arabs, was recognized as a clear case of aggression. The U.N. requested a cease-fire, without making the distinction between attackers and defenders. Palestine was partitioned in an Israeli State, a Palestinian State and Jerusalem was internationalized . In the end, the aggressors were rewarded.
- In October 1962, with the news of the confirmed photographic evidence of Soviet missile bases in Cuba, President Kennedy started the naval quarantine around Cuba without the potentially time-consuming appeal to the United Nations.
- In the 1970's, Pol Pot, Khmer Rouge leader, killed over 1.7 million of civilians. U.N. secretary General Perez de Quelliar insisted on protecting the Khmer Rouge. Pot was not summond before the tribunal of The Heaghe. The aggression stopped when Vietnam invaded Cambodia, also without first going to the U.N.
The war against Israel:
- In November 1975, the U.N. ruled that Zionism was a form of racism. The U.N. voted 152/1, to call on Israel to rescind a resolution declaring Jerusalem its capital.
