The Gender Warriors have discovered the perfect wedge issue, one that carries raw, visceral appeal with liberals and conservatives alike, and to a large swath of the American electorate.
But there’s a catch: For this issue to work, the truth must purged from general awareness. Researchers have to be re-educated, or if need be, cowed into silence. And the media must be goaded to cooperate.
The issue is domestic violence.
This area has become so strewn with Urban Legends that researchers have dubbed them the "woozle effect." Remember when Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet went hunting and almost caught a woozle?

As the news poured forth about the devastation wrought last week by a huge storm that swept across central Florida, I wondered to myself how anyone with any common sense could think that humans are responsible for the weather? Responsible? We have zero control over these events. And yet…
- What is happening in Congress with regard to various Green legislative proposals;
- What occurred when President Bush used the term “climate change” in his State of the Union speech;
- What is happening as various corporations throw their support to carbon emissions “cap and trade” programs;
- What is happening when California declares it will not purchase power if it is generated by “dirty” utilities utilizing coal-fired operations;
- The massive media coverage of the announcement of the United Nations Panel on Climate Change report predicting millions dying from hunger and widespread drought by 2080;
- The hyping of ethanol as the solution to energy independence;
- And so many more events, announcements, and claims has reached a tipping point for those seeking to convince the world that modernization, industrialization, and globalization is destroying the Earth.
- The Earth is 5.4 billion years old. Does anyone seriously believe millions will die by 2080 or that the Earth’s vast resources of water will go dry?

Wondering about all the backpack-toting, hairy-legged women ambling around New York City this week? They’re the delegates to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
Don’t expect to hear about random acts of kindness from this bunch. These women care about only one thing – freeing the planet from the baleful influence of patriarchy.
The word "patriarchy," of course, simply refers to male leadership. History shows that patriarchs have spared women from the dirtiest, harshest, and most hazardous lines of work.
